Requirements Discussion
A clear brief is the starting point for a successful carbon fiber product. Bring your application, ideas and priorities together before design and development begin.
Understand your requirements
Describe the product, its intended users and the conditions it will operate in. Discuss your target market, expected order quantity and the balance between weight, strength, appearance and cost.
Review product specifications
Share drawings, CAD files, reference samples or photographs. Identify critical dimensions, assembly interfaces, material preferences, finish options and any standards or testing requirements relevant to your application.
Hold the initial consultation
Review the information with our team and identify the questions that need resolving. Agree the initial project scope and the details needed for a technical and commercial review.
Carbon fiber component review
Engineering and process preparation
Stage outcome
A clear product and application brief
Reference files and specification priorities
An agreed scope for the feasibility review
Project milestones, tests and delivery arrangements are agreed for each order.
Project Initiation
Turn the product brief into a practical project plan, with a shared understanding of feasibility, responsibilities, milestones and the approval process.
Assess technical feasibility
Review product geometry, material selection, tooling and the proposed manufacturing method. Identify design constraints, assembly considerations and the tests or additional information needed before development.
Build the project plan
Outline the development stages, sample quantities, review points and responsibilities. Discuss a project-specific timeline that accounts for design work, tooling, sample revisions and approval requirements.
Confirm project approval
Review the proposed scope and commercial details, and agree how changes will be handled. Development can move forward once the required specifications, milestones and project approvals are in place.
Digital process planning and control
Precision tooling and machining
Stage outcome
A reviewed feasibility and development scope
Project milestones and review responsibilities
An agreed basis for project approval
Project milestones, tests and delivery arrangements are agreed for each order.
Sample Development
Develop a physical sample that makes the design tangible. Use prototype reviews to refine fit, finish and product details before the validation stage.
Develop the sample design
Review the component design, carbon fiber construction and tooling approach against the approved brief. Confirm the interfaces, dimensions and finishing details that the sample needs to demonstrate.
Produce the prototype
Prepare the tooling and prototype using the agreed development process. Review the sample’s shape, surface finish and assembly fit, and record the details that need checking with the customer.
Review images and sample feedback
Use sample photographs, measurements and the physical prototype to discuss results. Record feedback, revise the design where required and agree the version that should move into trial production and validation.

Sample images and recorded feedback
An agreed revision for trial validation
Project milestones, tests and delivery arrangements are agreed for each order.
Trial Production & Validation
Check the product and the proposed process together. Trial production helps resolve open questions before the design moves into a production order.
Run the agreed production trial
Prepare a trial quantity using the proposed materials, tooling and manufacturing sequence. Review process consistency and identify any issues that need adjustment before a larger production run.
Carry out quality testing
Check critical dimensions, appearance and assembly fit against the agreed criteria. Where applicable, assess relevant strength, stiffness, fatigue or environmental requirements using the project’s validation plan.
Validate the sample and process
Review the findings with the customer and address any nonconformities or design changes. Confirm the approved sample, inspection criteria and production requirements before progressing to mass production.

Dimensional and quality inspection
Stage outcome
Trial findings and required adjustments
Reviewed quality and performance criteria
An approved sample and production specification
Project milestones, tests and delivery arrangements are agreed for each order.
Mass Production
Organize manufacturing around the approved product and order requirements. Production planning and quality checks support consistency throughout the run.
Plan capacity and materials
Review the order quantity, materials, tooling and finishing requirements. Production scheduling is agreed for the specific project within WORKSWELL’s 30,000 m² factory, taking account of the product and current availability.
Manage the manufacturing process
Coordinate the agreed preparation, molding, processing and finishing stages. Use the approved product requirements and sample to guide the work, with progress reviews at the relevant production milestones.
Control quality throughout the run
Carry out the agreed incoming, in-process and final checks. Review key dimensions, appearance and assembly interfaces, and address deviations before preparing accepted products for delivery.
